birthing process

when we take the cries of pain

out of the birthing process

we can no longer hear

how they echo

the cries of pleasure

which conceived the child

when we take the cries of pain

out of the birthing process

we can no longer hear

how they blend

with the cries of joy

which greet the coming child

the birth of joy

is frought

with oscillating waves

of comfort and distress

where fear and hope

often are confused

yet if we deny our suffering

we somehow deny our joy

and greet Love without passion

which should bless

birth’s miracle

the conception and birth

of a child of Love

naturally evokes a passion

which should ne’er be silenced

by the numbing of our hearts
