vulgate vulture

you rush into death

hastening quick to what was forsaken

after the dread

of violence

nothing too spoiled for you

no body too broken, discarded

– unusable, unredeemable, unrecyclable–

onto the garbage

heap

demise gathered unto your body

transformed within

to new birth, derived from decay

oh you blessed, defiled creature

come let these wounds

nurture you

gather me under your wings

and consume in me what has rotted

that beauty may come

from this carnage.
